Karen refugees at Noh Boh

More than 2,000 refugees from Karen State in Burma (Myanmar) who fled from attacks by the Burmese army and the DKBA (Democratic Karen Buddhist Army) are relocated to a new temporary shelter in Noh Boh, Thailand on 11th July 2009. There are more than 300 families in the camp with 500+ children under the age of 5 years old, many of whom fled from Ler Per Her IDP camp in Burma before it was attacked by the Burmese army. Food, medicines and other supplies in desperate need are provided by NGO’s and the UNHCR. The Thai military provide security to the camp in case of attack by the DKBA who’s bases are just 2kms away in Burma.
